CRC for Plant Biosecurity - Kim Carr http://legacy.crcplantbiosecurity.com.au/taxonomy/term/954/0 en UAVs take centre stage at innovation showcase http://legacy.crcplantbiosecurity.com.au/content/uavs-take-centre-stage-innovation-showcase <p>On Wednesday 7 December the CRCNPB took part in the AusIndustry Innovation in Australia showcase in Brisbane.</p> <p>At the showcase the CRCNPB displayed an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), which was quite dramatic when hung in the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre.</p> <p>With the UAV hanging high above the CRCNPB stand, it helped to draw a lot of interest to the stand, including from the former Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, the Hon Kim Carr.</p> <p>UAVs play an integral role in the CRCNPB&rsquo;s <a href="http://www.crcplantbiosecurity.com.au/project/crc30032-flying-spore-traps">Flying Spore Traps project</a> (CRC30032).</p> <p>CRCNPB staff members Max Knobel and Andrew Crichton were joined on the stand by researchers from QUT who work on the project, Felipe Gonzalez, Richard Glassock and Federica Solda.&nbsp;</p> <p class=" rteindent1 rtecenter"><img alt="" width="259" height="194" src="/sites/all/files/stand2.jpg" />&nbsp;<br /> <span style="font-size: smaller">It was a delicate process hanging the UAV in the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre. </span></p> <p class=" rteindent1 rtecenter"><span style="font-size: smaller"><img alt="" width="200" height="268" src="/sites/all/files/carr.jpg" /></span><br /> <span style="font-size: smaller">CRCNPB Communications Manager, Max Knobel, discusses UAVs with Minister Kim Carr. </span></p> <p class=" rteindent1 rtecenter"><span style="font-size: smaller"><img alt="" width="194" height="259" src="/sites/all/files/stand.jpg" /><br /> The UAV hangs above the CRCNPB stand.</span></p> <p>Back to <em><a href="http://www.crcplantbiosecurity.com.au/newsletter/leaflet-december-2011">The Leaflet</a></em>.&nbsp;</p> Felipe Gonzalez innovation Kim Carr UAVs Public Mon, 19 Dec 2011 04:59:32 +0000 CRICHTONA 1756 at http://legacy.crcplantbiosecurity.com.au CRCNPB display on show to Minister http://legacy.crcplantbiosecurity.com.au/content/crcnpb-display-show-minister <p>The CRCNPB was invited to participate in a display of CRC achievements (Talking Points) as part of National Science Week festivities on Wednesday 17 August 2011.
