Andrew Crichton
My name is Andrew Crichton and my role at CRC for National Plant Biosecurity is Communications Officer.
I am originally from Yarralumla (a suburb of Canberra) and the thing I miss the most is the close proximity to Royal Canberra Golf Course and everything else in Canberra.
Living in Isaacs (another suburb of Canberra) is great, as it is awesome to own (with fiancée Jodi) our first home and Isaacs Ridge provides a great running track overlooking Woden Valley.
My favourite or ideal holiday destination is anywhere near the beach, but if I had to name one spot I would say Heron Island because it is amazing! The wildlife (both above and below the water), the fishing, the food, the chilled out lifestyle and not a car in sight make it a great place to holiday.
In my spare time, I enjoy SPORT.... You name it, I enjoy it, both playing and watching. Cricket, AFL, golf, hockey, soccer, league, tennis, union, I better stop there, if I go on the CRCNPB web server may crash... I also enjoy socialising over a couple of coldies with family and friends.
My favourite movie is Happy Gilmore because I find it hilarious. If only I could hit drives like that...
At the moment (time of writing) I am reading the CRCNPB Annual Report. Exciting!! I have also started reading Matthew Hayden’s autobiography; however I haven’t made much progress since I started reading it in February.
If money was no option, I would spend a lot of time with family and friends, travel extensively and play a lot of golf – and where possible combine all three!
A quality I would most like to be remembered for is trying to make the most out of life.
