Sakuntala is interested in working in horticulture sciences, and especially with fruit fly. As fruit fly is a horticultural pest, she would like to work on their population ecology, particularly population dynamics which will be helpful in pest management.
Sakuntala completed her bachelor degree in Agricultural science in Sri Lanka. She majored in agricultural economics, however changed her subject area from economics to population ecology and did her masters in ecology at Queensland University of Technology. She became interested in population ecology and is now using the knowledge gained from her bachelor degree and masters degree in the applied sciences.
