These activities have been designed to consolidate the plant biosecurity themes from the big book, Plant Pest Investigation. It is suggested that these activities be completed after reading Plant Pest Investigation.

Choose the activities that most suit your classroom and students and adapt them as needed to suit your students' abilities and interests.

What's worse than finding a snail in your garden? Finding GIANT snails in your garden! Learn all about this GIANT pest.

  • recognise that Giant African Snails (GAS) are pests
  • understand why GAS are pests, and
  • use movement to express their ideas about GAS.

4.      Designer pest

Design your own plant pest.

  • understand that there are many different types of pests
  • understand what features make and insect a ‘pest'
  • create their own pest, and
  • explain how and why they made their pest.
